Well I think we all like melody, no matter how heavy the music we like is, it is a bringer of harmony and Prospective know how to deliver that. Beyond is a beautiful album that has it’s brutal djenty moments, it has a very versatile vibe and I think that kind of musical approach is welcomed by the more broad listener. We have already featured the guys (click here) and the wait for their new release is over, high expectations met, the release is a pleasant and emotional ride, buckle on.

Music is about emotion and about ideas, it is much more than the industry it has been turned into, Beyond may give you shivers, as the diversity here is astonishing. Although the clean vocals may sound a little bit forced at times, no spoils, they are very well executed, the heavy singing is mostly screamo and Prospective loves to demonstrate they can control the vocal lines with a lot of skill and feel. Instrumentals are djenty and melodic, a lot of guitar riffs and some synths (nice feature, btw).
What I love the most is the way the tension escalates from melodic and harmonic to heavy, punchy breakdowns, kicking you in the butt quite hard. As the love for Meshuggah rises with each day, there is a lot of influence to be noted here, specially “Genoma N99“, Intervals as well. Prospective can be congratulated for the style they have achieved, it may have influences, but it is unique, you can simply say that you know the band you are listening to, that is utterly important. The odd meters and progression switches are exploited in a balanced matter, but put on the right places, not allowing the record to bore and sound straight forward.
Overall from a composition point of view, I am impressed, very reserved and delicate approach.
With Beyond they have achieved a very good production value, which is what goes next.
The sound of this album is astonishing for a small production, very clean and crisp, actually all those bands here (in Djentmag) and other sites prove to us that high quality production is possible everywhere. Guitars are well layered, the punchy riffs feature a lot of nice mastered djent chugs, but the clean guitars stand out, Beyond features beautiful melodic lines, not something we have not heard before, but they tend to make a difference. For the bass I can say that the work is well done, follows the rhythm, but the mix is good, it is there in the feel, not being hidden from the tracking, nice stuff. Drums are exciting btw, some funk hidden there inside, giving a very different vibe to the whole score.
Prospective have produced a good album, sounds complete and I think Beyond has the potential to be a breaking point to the big scene for them.
