That lad is producing music, not like anything you have ever heard or seen as a project. Religious djent… and it is good! I actually got to know with this guy when he was emailing websites, which was a whole example how to promote your music if you are indie, I got interested in what he has to offer… ok, I was astonished by the approach, style, production quality and determination. Not to mention his extremal growth in the social media, he is a total hit right now. God is a pure example how to promote your music, how to produce it, how to do everything actually.
Follow our intriguing interview:
DM: Nobody knows who you are, let’s keep it like that, give us something about who you are and what are you into other than music?
God: Love setting goals and deadlines to accomplish, learn and move forward. I love art – photography particularly landscapes that seem not of this world.
DM: Deathcore and djent instrumental about spirituality and religion, how did that happen?
God:I came to a fork in the road of my life where I realized the emptiness of seeking fame and success in the metal industry was not filling the longing in my heart. For me, I personally felt it was God challenging me to take myself out of the equation and let the music do its thing without me stamping my name all over it. That is what lead me to title it GOD. Using the concept of “Inception” the song titles induce thought into the listener without the use of lyrics. This helped with the vision and the joy of writing music from the heart and yet letting those interpret it for themselves. Not sure what style of music GOD is but I just love writing it. I want anyone to know reading this that I realize there are many who may not believe even some of my closest friends who do not. Much respect and love to you. It is a personal thing for each of us.
DM: As a non-believer so to say, I was touched by the vibe in God I, how do people from other religions take on your messages?
God: It has been humbling and amazing to see the response from so many different types of people from all over the world. There have been some trolling and nasty comments here and there but that is to be expected. Some GOD fans believe and some do not yet they connect with the music. That is what is amazing. Notes and chords are shared by us all so its been truly amazing to see in this crazy world. GOD has gotten many reviews from a wide variety of people and they have shown great respect and honestly dig the music. Much respect and love to everyone who has taken time to check it out, share and download it (click here).
DM: The process to create so much art is quite tiring – every song different tempo, home production, how do you keep up with the creativity?
God: Thank you for this inspiring and thought provoking question. The first thing that I do is pray & meditate on the theme of the song title for a little bit before up an instrument. There are no plans or riff ideas laid out beforehand. All of the music is written, recorded, produced on the fly. This is where I honestly do not even know sometimes how it all happens. I try to pick the starting key, scale positions as the first riff builds. I write each section added together 1 at a time until there is some tangible feel of a song. I then analyze it after listening to it rendered out in full sections and reorganize sometimes to get different desired effects. I personally believe that I am just a channel, a meessenger for the sound of GOD. He does the rest.
DM: Your music is progressive, what is the central concept around which you are writing your songs?
God: The multi layering and focus on orchestrated polyrhythm & leads is easily one of the main focuses of GOD’s sound. Using basses as your main rhythms helps to take on that massive sound. There is just the right blend of baritone guitar to fill the mid range of the tone. Add to that the clean and leads in over 30 some guitar and bass layers in some areas. Its an incredible combination that I am honored to have been a part of.
DM: Who triggered your love to djent and progressive, who’s responsible for your inspirations ?
God: Easily friends and family. Lots of music lovers from a wide variety of musical backgrounds.
DM: Give us some guilty pleasure music you are listening to.
God: Lionville‘s new album A World Of Fools and Cog The New Normal
DM: We heard that God II on the way, when is it coming out and what can we expect from it as means of production and composition?
God: The initial plan is to continue songwriting until August and see how many songs are written by then. Release will begin this fall as GOD I was released. It might be a double album that will have to be split apart by at least 6 months release. It might be a single album. It will release the same as GOD I with a song releasing every 2 weeks until December 25, 2017. Production is being remixed slightly to modify the tone and bring it a little bit more forward. As GOD is a new sound that is evolving it did not need to stray to far from the original production. The concept is to keep each album a continuous flow into the next. The variety is definitely coming from the compositions this time around. I waited over 8 months to begin writing for GOD II. This enabled me to analyze the good and bad about the previous album and write down ideas in text about what I would do differently or things I had not done before. I will release that entire list as the album gets close to release date.
DM: Are you thinking of getting other people involved in the project, so we can see you tour in the near future?
God: As this project is my personal testimony as part of my service to GOD. I simply cannot add or reveal my identity. It is something I took into great consideration before departing on this musical journey. This project is not about me. Its about GOD.
